Founded by Tom Koski, a craftsman inspired by his hometown of Aura, Michigan, a small Finnish farming community on the shores of Lake Superior. Aura Custom Saunas is built on the values that shaped generations before him. Aura was settled by Finnish immigrants in the early 1900s, and with them came the traditions that defined daily life: resilience, simplicity, hard work, and the ritual of the sauna. In Aura, the sauna wasn’t a luxury - it was a cornerstone of community, a place to gather, reflect, restore, and practice sisu, the quiet Finnish strength that pushes you through challenge and into clarity.

Tom carries that legacy forward. He combines old-world sauna tradition with modern culture and thoughtful design. Every sauna is custom-built with the expectation of being unique. Each project is crafted by hand - from the layout and bench configuration to insulation, vapor barriers, lighting, flooring, exterior treatments, and color palettes - creating a personalized, authentic sauna experience rooted in heritage yet made for today.
